A rocker switch is a commonly used electrical control device designed to open or close a circuit by rocking a button or actuator back and forth. When one side of the switch is pressed down, the opposite side rises, allowing users to easily control the flow of electricity. Due to its simple structure, convenient operation, and reliable performance, the rocker switch is widely applied in household appliances, industrial equipment, automotive systems, power supplies, medical devices, and electronic instruments.
The working principle of a rocker switch is straightforward. Inside the switch, conductive metal contacts are connected to the actuator mechanism. When the rocker is pressed to the “ON” position, the internal contacts close, completing the circuit and allowing current to pass through. When pressed to the “OFF” position, the contacts separate, interrupting the electrical flow. This clear mechanical feedback makes operation intuitive and safe for users.
Rocker switches are available in multiple configurations to meet various circuit requirements. Common types include single-pole single-throw (SPST), single-pole double-throw (SPDT), double-pole single-throw (DPST), and double-pole double-throw (DPDT). These different configurations allow control of one or multiple circuits simultaneously. In addition, rocker switches can be designed with momentary or maintained action. A maintained rocker switch stays in its selected position until pressed again, while a momentary type returns to its original position once released.
Material selection is crucial for ensuring durability and safety. The housing is typically made of high-strength engineering plastics such as nylon or polycarbonate, often with flame-retardant properties to meet international safety standards. The internal contacts are usually made from copper alloys or silver-plated materials to provide excellent electrical conductivity and resistance to wear. High-quality rocker switches are designed to withstand thousands or even tens of thousands of operation cycles.
Many rocker switches feature additional design options to enhance functionality and user experience. Illuminated rocker switches include built-in LED or neon indicators, making it easy to identify the switch status in dark environments. They are especially popular in control panels, power strips, and automotive dashboards. Waterproof and dustproof rocker switches with IP-rated protection are available for outdoor equipment or harsh industrial environments. These sealed designs prevent moisture, dirt, and debris from entering the internal mechanism.
Installation of rocker switches is generally simple and efficient. Most models are designed for panel mounting with snap-in or screw-type installation. Quick-connect terminals, solder lugs, or blade terminals are provided for convenient wiring. The compact structure allows them to fit into limited spaces while maintaining stable and secure performance.
In terms of electrical ratings, rocker switches are manufactured to handle different voltage and current levels, such as 125V, 250V, or higher, depending on the application. Proper selection based on load requirements is essential to ensure safe and long-term operation. Certified rocker switches often comply with international standards such as CE, UL, RoHS, or other regional approvals.
With advantages including simple operation, long service life, wide adaptability, and cost-effectiveness, rocker switches remain one of the most popular power control components in modern electrical systems. Whether used in small household appliances or large industrial machines, they provide dependable switching performance and user-friendly control.

Application Scenarios and Precautions for AC Push-Button Power Switches
An AC high-current push-button power switch is a type of button switch that connects or disconnects an AC power supply by means of pressing and can safely carry and control relatively large currents (e.g., 10A or higher).

Application Scenarios and Precautions for AC Power Sockets
An AC power outlet—commonly referred to simply as a “socket” or “power outlet”—is an electrical interface installed on walls, floors, or portable devices, designed to safely connect household or industrial AC power to a wide variety of electrical appliances. Its core components and functions are as follows: AC stands for “Alternating Current.” This refers to an electric current whose direction and magnitude vary periodically over time. Unlike “Direct Current,” which is supplied by batteries in our daily lives, the electricity transmitted from the power grid to homes and businesses is predominantly AC, as it is better suited for long-distance transmission.

Applications and Precautions for Rotary Switches
A rotary switch is a electromechanical component that changes the state of circuit connections by rotating a handle or knob. Its core internal structure consists of a rotating shaft (rotor) and multiple stationary contacts (stators). When you turn the knob, the brushes or contact blades on the rotor connect to or disconnect from different stator contacts, thereby closing, opening, or switching various circuits. The switch has positions ranging from 1 position to fully open, with rotation angles of 30°, 36°, and 45°. The base types come in two outer diameters: Φ32 and Φ29.
